Cat Battles runs on five actions, and the cat battles controls list is the same in every mode and on every arena: three mouse inputs and two keyboard keys. Four of the five exist to move another cat rather than damage you, because there is no health bar.

The Full Cat Battles Controls List
| Input | Action | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
Left mouse button | Punch | The basic attack, and the fastest way to move someone off balance near an edge. |
Right mouse button | Grab | Grabs the cat in front of you so you can carry them. |
F | Kick | A stronger single hit than the punch, for pushing someone away or interrupting a fight they are winning. |
Left Shift (hold) | Lift | Only does something while you are already holding a grab; raises the grabbed cat so you can carry them over an edge. |
Q | Use ability | Fires whichever ability you have equipped. |
A grab can be broken by the target's Hiss ability, and holding Shift turns the grab into a throw.
The Grab-Lift-Toss Sequence Step by Step
Grab
Right-click to grab the cat in front of you.
Lift
Hold Shift to lift them up.
Carry
Walk toward the nearest edge with them held.
Release
Release over the edge.
This is the elimination that works on all three arenas, and it is why the grab and lift pair are worth practising before the punch or kick. A grab near a gap in the Elevators, or near the ropes in the Boxing Ring, does the work for you the moment you let go.
Movement and Jumping
Movement and jumping use the standard Roblox defaults: WASD to walk and Space to jump. Mix the two into your movement rather than running in straight lines, so an approaching grab misses.
Using the Ability Slot
Q fires the ability you have equipped, and you can only equip one at a time. You choose it from the Abilities tab of your lobby inventory, and a new account starts with Dash equipped for free. The full ability list has all 11 with their prices and cooldowns.
Practising the Grab-Lift-Toss Loop
The five inputs are easy to learn and hard to time, so practise the loop in bouts where you only have to watch one opponent. How to win Cat Battles covers where to stand, when to hold your ability and how each arena's edge changes the target.
